In corporate America, women of color are often asked to prove themselves repeatedly, navigate unspoken rules, and decode silence from managers. While gaslighting diminishes confidence and clouds truth, truthlighting offers a powerful alternative.

Coined and defined by Dr. Falguni Shah, this groundbreaking book introduces truthlighting—the intentional practice of shining a light on reality, validating lived experiences, using data to bring transparency, and creating systems where fairness isn’t just promised…it’s proven.

Drawing on in-depth interviews with minority women across industries, From Gaslighting to Truthlighting shares powerful promotion stories: the barriers women faced, the dynamics at play, and the strategies that shaped their journeys. It also exposes persistent inequities in pay, promotion, and access to leadership—revealing why systemic change is both urgent and achievable.

With over 20 years of leadership experience in healthcare and consulting, and doctoral research focused on promotions and rewards, Dr. Shah brings both academic rigor and lived expertise. She has spent her career helping organizations advance equity, diversity, and inclusion while empowering individuals to thrive in workplaces that too often question their worth.

This book is for employees, managers, HR leaders, and executives who are ready to:
  • Recognize and stop gaslighting behaviors.
  • Build systems that uplift, validate, and empower.
  • Create cultures where people feel safe, valued, and supported to grow.

Dedicated to all women striving to grow professionally and achieve leadership—regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, culture, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, or immigration status—Dr. Shah especially speaks to minority women: lead with humility, inspire with courage, guide with kindness, and succeed with determination.

Truthlighting is more than a concept—it’s a movement.

Imagine workplaces where clarity replaces confusion, trust replaces fear, and every person’s reality is respected. That’s the future Dr. Falguni Shah invites you to help create.
